Hello !

I am a newbie in camping.
We have got a motorhome/camping-car, and we are looking for a web site for
buying some dishes, plates and glasses adapted to this vehicle.
Do you have any idea ?

You could call in at any caravan accessory shop near you, they'll sell a
range of melamine plates, saucers, bowls etc, all sorts of different styles
and they all look like china stuff untill you pick it up, it's all usually
dishwasher and microwave safe etc,
same styles of cups and mugs as the plates,
also available will be the plastic glasses, from wine glasses, brandy type
glasses to pint mugs and coca cola glasses.. all in plastic so unbreakable
in normal use.

Just watch out for the prices, as caravan shops tend to be prices, anything
for the leisure market is nowadays, they all seem to work on the more you
pay for the camping unit, the more you can pay for accessoreis,
tent orientated camp shops tend to be the cheapest, caravan shops expensive,
and places like brownhills which is a motorhome place are almost stupid with
prices.. for everything, but they sell everything at RRP i've found,
i find it fun to go there and say out loud where i've seen the exact same
items for cheaper when people are humming and ahhhing over the prices.. like
the coleman remote controlled lantern, brownhills want £35 quid for it!!,
index and argos do it for £19.99,
that battery powered bug zapper, they want £25, argos want £14.99 and so on,
but i guess when you can afford 80 grand for a motorhome (and they do sell
some even more expensive.. average price is 40 grand) you dont worry about
paying full whack for the things you need to put in it.

Well ok then, all the melamine type stuff i've ever seen in my local caravan
shops, and brownhills motorhome shops are dishwasher safe and microwave
safe, most have it written in english that they are, some have the symbols
on it, and some just have it written on the box (of course dishwasher safe
means on the top shelf away from the heating element)

it has to be microwave safe for caravan/motorhome use as so many people have
microwaves in the vans nowadays, and a few are taking along a small table
top dishwasher just to show off too

IIRC some early melamine stuff included a metal foil layer in its
construction. That's the stuff which is definitely *not* microwave safe!
I don't know if that technique is still used.
