We're about to buy our first tent (2 adults and one 4 year old) and we have
our eye on the Lichfield Arapaho 6 DLX 2006. Has anybody had any experience with this tent?. From the various pictures we've seen it looks as if it might be quite dark in the main living area - there only appears to be 2 fairly small windows on either side of the entrance. Also, is there door between the entrance corridor and the main living area and does it come with an insect mesh Cheers, Stephen |

If you post a rough idea of where you are I'm sure you'll get some good recomendations of places to view. Just in the off chance you're in the West Midlands, I would recommend (from personal experience only) Jackson of Arley and GO Outdoors in Coventry who both have fairly large displays. |

Geo,
Thanks for the reply. That's what's putting is of it because we haven't had a chance to see it up. We've spent the last few weekends going round camp shops looking at tents but nowhere stocks the arapaho. Thanks for the advice anyway, Stephen "Geo" wrote in message ups.com... We've spent the last few weekends going round camp shops looking at tents but nowhere stocks the arapaho. There may be a good reason..... If you're in the Manchester area, Decathlon may be worth a look, cheap and cheerful tents that seem to last well in my experience. Thanks for the advice anyway, Hi Stephen, The Arahapo is quite a big tent; 6m40 x 4m05 covers a fair amount of groundspace and this may have its downsides. Many campsites have quite limited 'pitches' and fitting a large tent can be inconvenient. Conversely, sites which are more 'open field, pitch where you like' can have uneven ground which can make it harder to get the canvas taut all round. If your 4yo will be sleeping in with you you won't need to use both inners, so you may end up with more space than you need - which may make a nominally 'smaller' tent big enough and you'll benefit from it being lighter, easier to erect and taking up less space in the car. As regards your specific questions (based on descriptions of the tent rather than direct experience). I'd expect the inners to be insect meshed, but probably not the main area; nor would I expect a door between 'entrance' and 'main living area'. The main area will get a fair amount of light through the walls and windows. |

No not at all, he is highlighting the fact that the above mentioned John Carver, posting as 'John & Lisa' is operating a scam. He is running a site that looks to many like a Google gmail site, but is in fact his own private forum. He steals post from uk.rec.caravaning, uk.rec.camping, uk.rec.driving etc and addds them to his own forum. He then adds a message to almost every thread (on uk.rec.caravaning anyway) saying that a similar question has been asked on the gmails forum, and suggest that we should go and reply there. He lifts these posts without asking permission from the poster, but doesn't lift the entire thread, he is selecting, editing and passing off other peoples post. He is doing this to increase the traffic to his own private website, where he is also running advertising. He is a parasite, a thief, and a scammer. He also spams uk.rec.caravaning with pointless stories that he has stolen from other sites. He starts cross posted threads generating uninteresting noise on off topic subjects. Obviousle he refuses to acknowledge that he is doing this. If you take the time to go to his gmails site you will find that it contains no original content, excpet minute by minute accounts of his own caravaning experiences. If you look back over his posts on uk.rec.caravaning (100+ (two sperate mail addresses) since he appeared in May) he seems to have bought at least three different caravans in this time and sold at least one, this does not look like the behaviour of a recreational caravaner. But please, feel free to make up your own mind. |
