The group seems far too quiet, so here is a thread for anyone to join.
For me, Scotland trip in July Dumfries and Galloway, Trossachs, Arisaig, 3 nights on Skye, 1 night on a Forestry Commission car park overlooking the Sound of Mull, 3 nights on Mull, 2 nights in Edinburgh. Our first extended holiday using the 'van' (a Wellhouse Leisure Granvia conversion). Very happy with everything, apart from only getting 22-24 mpg on Scottish roads. Over to you; what did you do? ... |

Ohhhh not a lot. Leant on the gate, looking at sheep and mountains and waved
to you as you drove by?? )Seriously been a more than a little busy this year. In laws moved next door and hubby has been doing kitchens/decorating etc. We are revovating as well so double whammy. Both rather exhausted. Still got them sorted now and hopefully heading off for a bit soon. Probably head up to Shiel bridge for starters, then up to the north coast maybe Dunnet head and beyond. We don't usually make any fixed plans beyond the first night, we play the weather game and go where it's nice to be. You sound like you've had a good time. Not sure whether that mileage is good or bad but Scottish hills do take their toll. We used to have an old autohomes travelhome years back. We almost had to peddle up hill and going down was a bit more exhilerating than we liked. Cooked the brake fluid as well, I seem to remember. "OG" wrote in message ... We're OK for a wooded valley though. Seriously been a more than a little busy this year. Nice, I have a photo of Rackwick on Hoy in the office. Not found anywhere quite like it. |

The only trouble is you do find yourself doing a lot of staring into the distance, with a mug of hot tea in the hand, it's a great time waster. I would like to go across to the Orkneys, but Hubby is allergic to water crossings. It took 2 attempts to get him on the Isle of wight ferry a few years back. In fact he and the dog stood at the front of the boat and looked green. It was like a mill pond, hardly a ripple as we came out of harbour!!!!! But still the views up there are stunning. Another place you might like for another adventure is over on the Ardnamurchan peninsular in the west. It's miles of small winding road leading to the old lighthouse. It's the furthest west point of the UK and you may see whales out there if you are lucky. If you turn to face Skye at sunset on a clear sunny day you are treated to this vision of pink mountains shimmering and almost appearing to float above the waves. ) |

OG and Hilary
Some good thoughts from you both. We had daughter and her boyfriend and total of 5 g/children for most of the school hols. We took the van and 2 tents for the kids to a site about 10 k away! A few good nights on a very basic rural wooded site, it made a pleasant change (for them) from our very basic rural home! John -- John Mulrooney NOTE Email address IS correct but might not be checked for a while. He who laughs last . . . is a bit slow on the uptake |

It's miles of small winding road leading to the old lighthouse. That was en-route on the day we travelled between Trossachs and Arsaig. Our second time there, but a first for our daughter who has now completed her four 'quarters' of Great Britain, (Ardnamurchan, Dunnet Head, Lowestoft, Lizard Point).
