Default Towbar Seat Alhambra with rear parking sensors

Hi everyone
I have been told that I need a detachable towbar as fixed type confuses the
sensors!
Has anyone experience of this?
Perhaps the centre 2 of the 4 sensors could be removed?

Many thanks for thoughts.

Peter

Default Towbar Seat Alhambra with rear parking sensors

Hi Peter,
I had a W reg Ford Galaxy with parking sensors. Essentially the same car I
think. I had a Witter bar fitted, none detachable, & the sensors worked
sometimes & not others. It was a nuisance.
Anyway, I replaced the car with another Galaxy 12 months ago & went for the
"Brink" detachable. It is perfect. The sensors work towball fitted or not &
when detached you can't tell it has a towbar fitted at all.
Regards
Malcolm

Default Towbar Seat Alhambra with rear parking sensors

Hi Peter,

I have successfully fitted Witter Towbars to the Ford Galaxy with reversing
sensors but I did have one where the second sensor from the left picked up
the ball when used in combination with a stabiliser plate. We have also
managed to fit Witter's Z47A bumper shield. It seems to be spacing the ball
backwards that causes a problem.

However, The towbar has been re-modelled (latest version is F74C) and the
neck is removable. If there is a difficulty, it can now be upgraded to a
quick release detachable system, though you could no longer use bumper
shields etc.

Regards

I have a 2002 Galaxy with a fixed Ford swan neck towbar (dealer fitted) and
have no probs with the reversing sensors, cannot comment on the detachable
version though... not reversed into anything yet either :-)

I have to be a little careful, the beep is set to become continuous at
about 6 inches from the bumper. Exactly where the ball is :-(

Is the beep adjustable for range?

As far as I'm aware mine has not been adjusted but works fine with the Ford
dealer fitted swan neck.

Paul
