Trangia burner by
Rick Savery
Not used a trangia burner (or any other meths burner) before so have a
couple of questions - any basic instructions for filling and using on the
web or elsewhere ?
Also, I have some Greenheat gel sachets and wondered if anyone had slopped
this into a trangia burner and lit it ? Was it successful ?
Thanks for any help and advice

3-Way Cooler Safety by
Mick[_4_]
Hi All,
Just spotted this;
http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/45l-3-way-fridge/COREACED7501
And have a question about where it can be used with gas ie inside or
outside the tent. Where I am obviously coming from is whether it is safe
to have running inside the tent whilst operating on gas??? Also I assume
that it can be used with any gas as long as appropriate regulator is
used??

C&CC Clubcare Motor Insurance by
Gunslinger[_3_]
Does anyone else have experience of using C&CC Clubcare to insure their car
(not motorhome, where they apparently still use the dreaded Equity Red
Star)?
They use different brokers now - MCE, based in Northamptonshire who I
believe mainly specialise in motorbike insurance.
However the standard of administration remains particularly poor, even by
C&CC standards:
1. Over a month to send out...

Where rivers flow upstream by
info@oz-greetings.com.au
Greetings,
it was in the Great Artesian Basin, Australia’s driest and hottest and
strangest spot. I camped at Eyre Creek. A tiny sprig floated very,
very slowly from right to left. I put up tent, played with dog Rusty,
cooked a meal. Then a gentle breeze came up, and that sprig, like an
old friend, came back again - floating very, very slowly from left to
right.
With an average gradient of...

Akto poles - how have they changed? by
Judith
Has anyone bought a Hilleberg Akto tent recently?
I've just bought a replacement pole section, by mail order, and the
new one looks different and does not fit. The shop had warned me that
the poles had changed in the last year but I did make it clear that I
needed the old type.
I'm wondering if I've been sent the new style or if I've just been
unlucky with the manufacturing tolerances. I...

solar charge for leisure battery? by
Stephen[_2_]
Hello,
I was advised that a leisure battery might discharge if left unused
for some time and I was told that a solar charger would top-up the
charge and prevent this. What size solar panel would I need? Does the
output of the panel have to be a certain ration of the capacity of the
battery? If so, what's the magic formula?
BTW can you recommend a good make of leisure battery and any...

camping gaz stove with calor gas cylinders by
Stephen[_2_]
Hello,
Sorry if this is a FAQ but how easy is it to use a camping gaz stove
with a calor gas cylinder?
I'm about to buy a camping gaz stove and from what I had read here,
camping gaz is abundant in Europe but not the UK. Near me there are
several petrol stations and DIY stores all selling calor gas
cylinders.

MSR Dragonfly - running stove at low fuel levels by
Peter Chant[_2_]
Chaps,
I have an MSR Dragonfly. With about 200ml of fuel remaining in a 590ml
bottle it seems to pick up mainly air rather than fuel. It seems that the
dangly thing on the flexible hose on the pump assembly picks up from the
upmost end and hence cannot pick up the last of the fuel.
I would expect that the stove would always miss the last few dregs of fuel
but a whole third of a bottle being...

re-proofing a jacket. by
Clint Sharp
Simple question, maybe a not so simple answer.
After machine washing a sprayway jacket it's no longer waterproof.
Any recommendations for re-waterproofing it based on your experience?

MrBlueSkye says Toodle pip and goodbye. by
MrBlueSkye
For many years (since Micronet days) I have been bouncing around the
Newsgroups. To all of you who know me or have heard of me I bid you a fond
farewell in advance. Unfortunately it’s looking like MrBlueSkye will be
clocking off for good shortly. A recent emergency visit and hospital stay in
my local cardiac unit has revealed that I have an Aortic root aneurism that
has billowed to 60mm...

Self Inflating mats - opinions by
Paul C
Hi
Are these a lot more comfortable than the foam 'Karrimat' types or just a
bit more comfortable? Is there a lot of comfort difference between a 3cm and
a 5cm thick one. Are they mostly foam or air? Will be used by 5'9'' adults
of about 10-12 stone on grass .
Cannot really get the feel of them in their bags and cannot find anywhere
with them already on display.(Hampshire). Going to be used...
