Campsites that allow groups of blokes by davidjones@myself.com
Hi, A group of friends and I would like to go camping, but we are having trouble finding a site that will accept a large group of men. Can anyone recomend any that we could try? As far as our requirments, the only firm one is that it should be somewhere near the sea. It would be an advantage if it was in the south because of the warmer sea in mid June (particuly the south west, south wales or...

10mm Tent Poles by Graham Drabble[_2_]
Hi, We have a Sportiva Villa tent with what I believe are 10mm diameter fibreglass poles. Unfortunately one has snapped and I'm trying to find a replacement. However I can only see 9.5mm and 11mm poles on line and in the stores I've visited. 9.5mm is definitely too small, the male end of my pole doesn't fit in the female end of the 9.5mm ones. Not tested the 11mm but measuring the pole...

Midlands site recommendations by Sonars UK[_2_]
Hi, As a family we used to go on many camping holidays in a five birth tent with all the trimmings. I'm now a single father with two young boys (4 and 6 years old). I live in Leicester and want to load the car up on a Friday, pick the boys up from school and take them camping for the odd weekend. I don't want to turn the weekends in to a major event by driving to the

Tent Advice please by malc
Does anyone make ridge tents anymore? We've got a couple of small domes and a FO big family dome. But in August we're going to be camping at a number of different sites in one week and I can't find a suitable 4 man dome tent that doesn't take an eternity to pitch or is too small etc. I used to have a Lichfield Challenger 5 (or something) which could be pitched in a jiffy and with suitable...

Choice of big tents. by limestonecowboy
We currently have a Sunncamp Vario 6 (2006 model with separate groundsheet) but are considering getting a Mondus 1200. I hope it will offer more stability but I'm a bit worried about the bulk of the thing and apparent reduction in living space. Does anyone have one of these (or something similar) who is willing to share their views, Ta

Kirkcudbright Campsites by limestone-cowboy
Looking for recommendation for a suitable campsite for a reasonably large tent, me and the missus, 12yr old boy and fairly well behaved dog for Whit weekend. Decent pub with live music would be useful but at least the days are reasonably long by then.

Advice sought: South of France camp sites by MikeB[_2_]
We (wife, 12 year old daughter and I) are planning to go camping in the South of France this August. I'd appreciate it if anyone could recommend good camp sites. We think that Provence might be nice but we are willing to try anywhere. Regards, MikeB

Looking for camping site advice in the Low Countries.... by Centurion
Hiya I'm going to be touring Belgium, Holland, France & Germany in the summer and was looking for decent reviews of campsites in those areas - specifically Eindhoven, Cologne, Liege & the Champagne region of France (Amiens, Rheims & Versailles) Can any one point me to a forum/website that'll give good advice on camping/camping sites in these regions?

Buttyland, W Wales - Review by Fran
We've just come back from Buttyland, nr Tenby, in west Wales. We (two parents, five children aged 7 to 19, one nearly-80 yr old grandmother) stayed at Buttyland on Friday and Saturday nights. The facilities were more than adequate for our needs: a toilet block for male and female plus a shower room/washroom behind. The water in the shower was hot and plentiful, despite the snow/sleet...

Simple Bread Recipe? by blacklight
Hi People, we are often in the wilderness days away from civilization. That’s when we dream of fresh bread. Is there a simple recipe for making bread without yeast or baking powder - or a hammer for the end product? Our only power source is the camp fire. Thanks for answers - Klaus and Rusty www.rent-a-cloud.com (where everything is free)

Butterflies by Fran
Easter weekend in Yorkshire was cold. It snowed. So there we were, four of us in a 12 man (allegedly) tent... Unusually for me, I got dressed for bed. One long sleeved thermal vest, one sweatshirt, one pair fleecy (almost) trousers, thickish shocks, gloves, mummy bag inside rectangular bag. I had to get up in the night, as you do, to water the foliage. Returning to my pit I found that...
