Caravan Movers - extra weight by
Stephen Glynn
I know the question about comparing caravan movers has been on this news
group many times but I just wondered does anyone who has a mover fitted (I
notice most of the movers seem to range somewhere between 30 and 40kg)
actually take into account the fixed extra weight or just load up everything
they would normally take with them in the van without spotting any
difference?

re overdrive on automatic by
The Doctor's Apprentice
It's like an additional gear. Most people I know leave it turned on, but it
might be better turned off when towing.
Never really saw the point of them on an automatic gearbox, they were
originally fitted to manual boxes, but were abolished with the advent of 5th
gear. Do you know how many gears your auto box has? some have five but most
are only 4 and some of the older ones were 3 speed. The o/d...

Taking the Caravan Club to Small Claims Court by
Motorola
Hello all, just thought I would let you all know how I am getting on with my
Claim. If you remember my last post regarding Camping La Puerto Del Sol,
this is the site we booked through the Caravan Club and when we arrived
could not site our outfit due to the Tree Stumps on the pitch. Well I filed
a claimed in the county court against the club for my site fee of £617. I
have received...

Lambielevels by
Chris J Dixon
With the impending arrival of my new van, I looked around the
accessory showroom for a new level to replace the Lambilevel that
has been on the old one for 26 years.
Looks like time has gone backwards. Instead of a big bold level
which can be read from the driving seat (very handy when pulling
up a ramp) everything on offer was more like a standard spirit
level that you can only read close...

Your earlier post suggested fitting ABS onto caravans in order to prevent a
snake, or to reduce the effects from it. Now your post is saying that fitting
ABS would probably have no effect. That's helped us all a lot, many thanks!

Swift Capri 1990 model Motorhome - Makers Contact? by
Camperman
I have a Swift Capri 5400 Motor home 1990 model and am trying to find the
location of the manufacturer. Tried the Yellow pages for Swift under
appropriate headings to no avail. Search engine finds nothing either.
I believe they have a technical advice service, and I need to contact them
re a problem with the flooring and need details of the structure of what I
believe is a plywood poly foam...

Has anyone got any experience of the linked motormover?

OT Promotion code required for Ferry booking. by
David
Hi,
When one buys on an internet site you can be asked for a code to cover a
promotion/voucher, which gives you a discount if you enter it.
Do you know of say a web site that lists this sort of info.?
(Will be booking a ferry shortly to N. Ireland.)

Spongy walls by
Dec Brennan
Hi All
I have just bought a cheapy to se if I can cope with towing a caravan.
I do realise that the cheaper you buy, the work is required to get the
beast in good order. However I have read many posts on this site where
folk have relined their vans etc. I would just like to know how when
stripping away the old timber frame, how is it attached to the
aluminium skin?? do I glue it?? Thanks in...

Damp meters? Testing for damp in new van. by
mike
I'm shortly picking up my new Lunar Quasar 524. On reading about the many
issues regarding damp ingress, and it appears that even some new vans can have
damp already in them when the innocent buyer collects it.
Do you think it would be a good idea to check it out first with a damp meter
before I hand over the balance of the cash.
On reading up on damp meters it appears the majority use the...

Worth restoring a tatty Abbey ?? by
Luke Siemaszko
Hi all.
No caravanning experience.
Got an old Abbey sitting out the back - seems mechanically and
structurally OK, but decoratively poor. Outside has poor paint and trim
falling off, windows still waterproof but bits falling off the latches,
interior peeling and needs a complete redecorate.
If it was tidy we would use it, and we couldn't afford anything else.
But my gut feeling is that it...
