It is quite common that newsgroups are collected from your ISP. If this
is what you do, then it sounds as if your ISP has perhaps ceased
handling the particular newsgroup. they will effectively have a
different computer (a news server) which receives and sends only
newsgroup postings.

If you are able to perhaps start receiving some other new newsgroup you
take a liking to, then this would verify that your PC setup is ok. Then
contact your ISP (blueyonder??) with a question specific to the
particular missing newsgroup, asking them to confirm they are carrying
it (or asking them to start carrying it again!)

Could it be the response of your ISP to the complaints about the recent
troll invasion of uk.rec.caravanning.
It does seem to have quietened down a little and maybe Blue Yonder will pick
it up again as a matter of course but it is probably worth asking them.

Do you know any other Blue Yonder user and are they similarly unable to get
to that newsgroup?

I see it ok on the demon server.

I agree with the other poster in that your server may have dropped it for
some reason accidentally probably. I should email the help line with a
request for it to be reinstated.

Meanwhile try setting up a new news account with news.readfreenews.net
configured to port 120 if you have the option. Its totally free read only.
Just add it as a new account in your newsreader. It carrys the group you
want. Sometimes you get odd access refused messages. It just means its
really busy and try again.

I can talk you through Outlook/ Outlook express set up if you want.

FWIW, I can get uk.rec.caravanning via my ISP (Plusnet) and it is also
available on Google should you be unable to get it via a usenet server.
See http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?q=uk.rec.caravanning for the Google
page.

BTW, I suspect that the troll(s) going back to school again is a more
likely cause of the quietening down than an ISP or two dropping that group.

Some investigation done by my son showed that the worst offending trolls
were Blue Yonder customers. He registered a complaint with their Abuse
department on my behalf. If others have done the same, this may have
encouraged Blue Yonder to drop it. (what they should have done is close the
abusers account......)
