Default Self-Build Motor Caravan Club forum problems

Apologies for posting this here, but (for reasons that will become
apparent) I can't post it where I would normally do so.

Some of you might be aware of the Self Build Motor Caravan Club,
www.sbmcc.co.uk. We're a happy, if sometimes argumentative, bunch of
panel-van customisers, bus converters and the like who help one
another out with their builds and (in our off hours) put the world to
rights.

I'm a member of the SBMCC, and this message is from me personally -
it's not an official club announcement or anything.

We have for some time run a web-based forum where members and
non-members have been welcome to ask questions, offer replies and
generally chat about life in general. For a long time this was hosted
by Network54.com, but their pop-ups got more and more intrusive,
occasionally including hardcore porn, and so we decided to move to a
phpbb system of our own. This has run quite happily for a fortnight or
so, but on Friday the sysadmin (not a club member) "went postal".
Messages have been deleted and continue to be so; paid-up SBMCC
members are being banned from the forum (myself included); insulting
and threatening email messages have been sent by the sysadmin to
members; and the whole forum has been generally screwed over.

Hence my message here. There's a "lifeboat" forum for forum users who
want to try and sort things out over at:
http://s3.invisionfree.com/SBMCC
and I'd recommend reading the threads there if you'd like to know
more.

Finally, if anyone is in the market for IT services, I'd recommend you
steer well clear of Robert Anthony, www.ramms.co.uk unless you want to
put yourselves in the hands of a petty-minded dictator with a God
complex and all the moral compunction of a rabid weasel in heat.

Thank you for reading.

Thanks for this. I have registered for the new group.
I was a member of the SBMCC from almost the beginning, and despite a bit of
typical internet squabbling found it very informative.
I did pay my tenner and join the club for the first year, but nobody
bothered to ask for a sub the next year so my membership lapsed.
Is the club itself still going? I wouldn't begrudge them another tenner if
it would genuinely help.

Barleycorn. (David B Hampshire).

There wqere some administrative problems last year, and membership
records went to pot.

Is the club itself still going? I wouldn't begrudge them another tenner if
it would genuinely help.

Yep, it's still going - www.sbmcc.co.uk for details.
