Default any advice on having turbo fitted

I know turbos have been discussed with passion previously but what I am
after is any experiences either good or bad from people who have had a turbo
fitted or know stories of fitted turbos. My engine is a fiat ducato 2.5
diesel with 40,000 miles on the clock.....The MMM magazine has companies
advertising turbos from 700.....Cheers...simon

One of the contributers to www.motorhomefacts.com had one fitted a little
while ago.
Cost more than 700 though. Thought it was nearer 2000.

I should check that your engine is fuelled OK at the moment before you shell
out the hard earned.

We bought a Volkswagen T4 Autohomes camper last year, with a 2.4 n/a diesel.
We didn't expect a sports car, but it was very gutless. At the MOT the
emissions were only '0.45', when you can have up to '2.0'.

I took it to our local diesel injection specialist who took ten minutes to
increase the pump fuelling. Now it goes far better, the fuel economy has
improved, and it is still under the legal emissions figure.

If you really need a Turbo 'TB Turbos' seem to have the job worked out.

Simon is asking whether anybody has had any experiences good or bad in
fitting a turbo.

I don't think anybody has answered his question.

You really need to ask yourself why you want one, what's the point ?

Also what vehicle and weight is the vehicle your driving ?

Is that because you have had experience of fitting a turbo and the
experience was a bad one?

Ive got a bog standard 2.4 D T4 and it goes like a rocket ! along with
very good fuel consumption
Cruises easily at 70-80 mph and there is still a lot left

Mine goes pretty well now, but I have noticed that bottom gear is very high,
I would not like to tow with it. Also top gear is low geared. It seems to
scream a bit above 65 / 70. I suppose all German engines like to rev, but
it's a bit disconcerting after the Landrover. Fuel economy seems to be
around 30 MPG

Nice way to try to get people to visit a www site ?
tell him to come here and answer the bloke

----------------------------------------
I've no way of knowing if or when that contributer might re-visit that site
but the information is there to be found if Simon uses the search facility.
As for mentioning web sites, I would always direct someone to a website if I
thought it might be useful to them. I'm fairly sure I've mentioned
www.motorhome-list.org.uk and others in the past without anyone taking
umbrage.

I fitted a turbo to a mini
very easy

But to a diesal, it's not
lots of hard work, change cams, fuel pump, injectors, air box, electrics I
could go on
The cost would not be worth it for about an extra 25bhp

so the advice is dont do it.
