Default Replacement Wheel Nuts ?

Anyone know where I might get replacement wheel nuts for an old Thompson
Glen ? I've actually converted the van to a trailer and while out the other
night LOST 3 nuts off one wheel !!!

Other than going to a scrappy and working round lots of different types of
cars, is there any sure way of identifying what size I need ?

Hi Colin,

They are almost certainly 1/2" unf but to be sure, try a 1/2" plain nut on
them.

I have numerous wheel nut/stud combinations in stock. If all else fails,
you could post the one you've got left!

Regards

I have established, hopefully, that they are 7/16 UNF. Measured across the
nut outside thread diameter, then took a pencil and squeezed the pencil body
against the inside of the nut to get a thread pattern on the pencil.
Measured 5 thread peaks within 1/4" therfore 20 TPI; I hope.

A further check of the internet revealed that 7/16 UNF were only ever used
on Mk 1 Escorts, Mk 1 Capri, Mk 1& 2 Cortina, unless you know differently.

Going to talk to the local Ford garage today beyond that may take you up on
your offer,

Regards

Colin
