Default Fiat Ducato Gearbox problems

I believe this may be an old chestnut, but I have a CI that is 3.5 years old
on a Ducato and am now suffering gearbox problems, despite only having
20,000 miles on the clock. It won't go into first gear at all. Apparently
the quadrant was siezed, but unseizing it makes no difference. The service
people at my local Fiat dealer are now saying that the gearbox will have to
come out and be stripped down - I fear this will be expensive.

Should this be happening to me? Has anyone any experience of complaining to
