Default leisure battery

HI CAn anyone tell me if all leisure batterys are now in standard
height, the battery fitted under the seat compartment, just slides out
of the seat compartment after removing a metal cover, battery height
just over 7 and a half inches, but all new batterys are 8inches in
height and at i have less than 8 inches to get the battery to clear
the seat base,so to get the new battery in position. So does anyone
know if leisure batterys are made smaller than 8 inches, thanks Hymer
46.

Whilst perusing Usenet on 27 Feb 2007 14:06:53 -0800, I read these
words from "hymer46" :

AFAIK, the battery cases (into which they put the plates) are
pretty much standardised across Europe *except* for the height.
That's down to the individual manufacturer.

Your best, and safest, bet is look your Yellow Pages for either
a battery manufacturer or a retailer who specialises in supplying
to the trade and pay them a visit with your current battery.

If there's a choice, try for one who handles *your* make of
battery, Varta or whatever . . .

I recently saw shorter in the brochure from the manufacturers here so they
are available.

I wondered why Autosleeper had fitted a standard automotive battery as
the second battery in my Trouper - until I tried to buy a replacement
leisure type battery and found they were all just too tall to fit in the
restricted space available..
