Default Truma Ultraflow Filter Housing - anyone bought/fitted one?

I've bought a conversion kit today to replace my Carver 2 filter
housing. Part of the kit is a pistol grip which fits on my existing
hose, and this is supplied with a metal hose clip. The problem is do I
have to have a special tool to open this hose clip, because I've never
seen one before and I'm not sure how it's supposed to open and close.

Also does the kit come with a non-return valve? as I didn't have one
