Default Cost of living in France

I heard recently in the media that the cost of living in France has
increased quite a lot to the extent that some ex-pats in France are
having goods delivered to their door cheaper than they can buy in
France. Does anyone have any update on this? e.g. cost of petrol and
diesel.

Hi Frank,

Just come back from a week near Coulommiers (about 20 minutes South East
of Paris. Diesel at Val d'Europe shopping centre was 1 Euro 11 cents.
Which I think works out at around 90p per litre. Motorway services were
around 1.05 per litre.

A lot of food stuffs were cheaper when compared with the UK, but what I
like is the freshness and quality of the fruit, veg and meat!

Saw this happening when we stopped at an aire near Limoges
last weekend. Looked like a small auction and then we
noticed crates of goods. Someone had pampers nappies
another seemed to be a crate of HP beans. Why do people go
abroad for /a better life/ and then bring the old life with
them?

Proper food in France is more expensive than it was but if
you want specially imported brit stuff expect to pay more
(whether at the s/market or bulk order)

If you're going for a trip take bog rolls and tea bags but
enjoy fresh local produce.

Hi Frank

Just back from a 3 week tour of France and prices are steeper than
previously but remember it is the Pound that is pants...

Diesel was 1.28 on Autoroute but only 1.13 at Supermarkets
Petrol was 1.49 on Autoroute and 1.38 at supermarkets

Blank CD's are silly money in France but everything else is on a par
with the UK except wine which is much cheaper :-)

Just back after 4 wks hol, Metz, Nancy & Nord Pas de Calais cheaper than
last year. One fuel station near Coquelles (not Cite Europe) had diesel for
0.99! Belgium more expensive, Austria eye-watering and Switzerland
unbelievable (as always).
