Default Sealant

I have been replacing the cover strip on my 97 bailey and noted that
wherever there is a screw placed to hold the end caps on they have
used a seant similar to Blue Tack which is much cleaner to work with
than the ordinary tube type you squeeze out with a gun. Can anyone say
what this sealant is or what I could use that wouldny get stuck
everywhere. Its only a postage size piece of seal that is used.
Cheers
