Default *** OVERNIGHT CARAVAN CAMP SITE NEAR TO ORLEANS ***

Hi

Travelling to the South of France this summer and will need an overnight
stop camp site somewhere around (or say south of) Orleans. In the past have
stayed at a couple of sites on the Loire (about 10 /15 miles to the West of
Orleans) but these were both large holiday sites probably better suited to
long stay visits. Have tried overnighters at Aires in the past without probs
but would much prefer a camp site - so would appreciate any tried and
recommended suggested sites in that area.

There is an excellent municipal site at Olivet, just south of Orleans.

Try the Municipal at Chartres - not to far away - but it is very popular
so arrive early!

Try Salbris, about 55km S of Orleans on the N20 (J4 of the A71).
The campsite is at the northern end of Salbris and only about 300m E of the
N20. Coming from the north I think it is the 2nd set of traffic lights. It
is signed.
Flat site, electricity included. Some hedged emplacements and other more
open areas. On a lakeside and makes a very pleasant night stop.
We've used it a number of times. 290 miles from Boulogne via Rouen.

Excellent site. Get there before teatime or you'll be beaten to the best
sites by the dutch.
Chartres is a useful stop, Camping au Bord de l'Eure. Nice riverside walk
into town. Intermarche nearby.
Re Olivet, tried for that following directions in the book but ended up in a
housing estate amongst the tramways.
We were a bit early at Chartres one year so carried on thinking we'd stop
before Orleans. That's when we found there are no sites and having missed
Olivet ended up quite late at Salbris.
