Should cars towing a trailer/caravan be allowed to use the outside lane of
motorways?

Errr... The third lane and a speed limit of 60mph are two very different
issues... Surely?

Are you asking for opinions - or for a clarification of the law?

If the latter, you cannot use the outside lane when there are 3 or more
lanes - but you *can* when there are only 2.

You have to watch out when the number of lanes changes - as on the M271
approaching Southampton. There is a junction where the motorway gets an
extra lane - as Lane 1 - so if you are in Lane 2 before the junction, you
suddenly find yourself in Lane 3 *after* the junction - without changing
lanes!

Is that suddenly, or suddenly without warning?
