We have a Witter fitted (twin electrics), we've had no problems at all. It was fitted by an independent outfit that deals with towbars, trailers and associated equipment. It cost about half what the Nissan dealer was quoting. Dealer's mechanics often have little idea about fitting towbars as it's a specialist task, the last two dealers I dealt with both admitted that they just farm out towbar fitting jobs to local experts and add a bit to the price for their own 'cut' - they'll probably use the same expert that you could find for yourself.

I wouldn't use Nissan to fit a towbar ..... their experience will probably
be quite limited .... and Ime Nissan 'bills' are generally larger than
really necessary. Imo it is better to use people that fit towbars day in day
out ..... someone local that fits Witter Towbars would be a good choice.

I have a Brink detachable fitted to my 03 X Trail - its great just leaves
the two sockets to the left on show when removed and no issues whilst in
use - I used an independent towbar fitter to install mine at about 50% of
the cost of the Nissan dealer.
