Default OT Veggie OIL as Fuel for Diesels engines

Cars with older style mechanical fuel pumps can handle 100% bio fuel
(recycled waste vegetable oil) or SVO (straight vegetable oil) but may have
trouble starting from cold. A lot of people are putting 50/50 SVO and derv
in their tanks, if you declare this to the customs and excise you pay about
47p duty per litre, which added to the cost of the oil, about 45p in Tesco's
makes it not worth wile. If you recycle waste oil the duty is only about 23p
so added to the free oil and a few pence for processing it is well worth the
trouble. Your engine will run better on vegetable oil and produce more
power. Vegetable oil used is fuel is "carbon neutral" (you are simply
releasing carbon taken from the atmosphere to grow the plants earlier that
year, then taken back in to more plants the following year) and will not add
to global warming; it may actually reduce the amount of carbon released to
the atmosphere because you are not burning the fossil fuel you would
otherwise be using. The diesel engine was originally designed to run on
vegetable oil not waste oil from refineries which the oil companies would be
stuck with if we did not put it in our cars. The oil company's took the name
diesel and put it on their waste product; they should be done under the
trade descriptions act!!
