on the way.
Im not in a great hurry....and would want at least 1 night in France.
Leaving the caravan at home this time !
Don't suggest a boat........ good idea but not a starter

I would buy a gps. It can tell you where to find accomodations, eating
places of any kind, gas tanks (also if you prefer a certain one) and so on.

Have a nice trip. Wish it was me

Simple way now that the new motorways are open is Calais - Rouen - Le
Mans - Tours - Bordeaux - Biarritz

As for hotels, leaving the motorway you will usually find billboards to
nearby hotels

Barry
back in the 1980s, the was a book published Traveller's France written by
Arthur Eperon. It was featured on the BBC Holiday programme.
It gives routes through France for those who wish to keep off the pay roads
and see quite a bit of France.
As it is fairly old, you can find it at second hand bookshops or through
Amazon. Whilst the routes are probably still correct, the hotel and
restaurant recommendations may well be out of date, but its worth a couple
of pounds - I bought one in escellent condition last year. You can always
check the route against the Michelin site.
Hope this helps
