Default Help with Route to Kielder Water

Hello

Travelling from Sheffield to Kielder Water CC site later this month towing
caravan

Does anyone have any experience/advice on which route to take from A1
please.

Route off CC website route planner suggests A1, A696 Ponteland Road to
Otterburn, then B6320 then local roads

Checking on Map - leaving A1 near Darlington then A68 to near Otterburn
looks shorter but is it worth it?
Is it suitable for caravans?

CC website Standard Direction only seems to cover from M6 (M6 from
Sheffield is a nightmare to get to and also a lot further)

Any Advice would be appreciated

TIA

Gerry

the MOD Tank transporters use, The A68 is all hills , It is a excellent road
if you are not towing.

Thanks for a speedy response, A1 Western Bypass it is then.

I vaguely remember the A68 from many years ago, now you've mentioned the
hills.

Thanks again

Gerry
