Default Bridlington - North Bay Leisure Park Fire

A FIRE which caused up to 22,000-worth of damage at a local caravan park
was started deliberately, according to police.

The caravan, at North Bay Leisure Park, was torched between 5am and 5.30am
last Saturday.

Many personal items were inside, including a mobility scooter used by one of
the elderly owners.

Its owners, who use it for holidaying, were at home in York at the time and
plan to come to Bridlington this weekend to assess the damage.

Park manager David Allison said: "It's unfortunate it has happened in
Bridlington, let alone in North Bay Leisure Park. Nothing like this has
happened before.

"These people bought the caravan three or four months ago, so they could
come across for a quiet holiday, and their caravan has been burnt down. It's
a real shame."

The caravan was fully insured and has been replaced without the York couple
incurring any cost.

Anybody who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Limekiln Lane area last
Saturday is urged to contact Bridlington police on 0845 6060222.
