Perhaps it's a bit like the anti-christ, only rather than being an
all-powerful being living in a fiery underworld harvesting souls for

I think you may have the location incorrect; he refers to Sahara, or
similar? So, maybe someone who opposed the great trading routes of the Bedu
and the rest stops they made along the way. Or perhaps he fears camels - or
crappy 80's pop songs?
